It's A Jungle Out There

This is what happens when you leave for a week.

I had patches of grass that were over 12 inches tall and had gone to seed!

When we left, there was just a bare tree without any buds.

The weeds have overtaken my flowerbeds.
What happened here while we were gone?

Yellowstone

Dave thinks this is the three-legged buffalo that posed for the buffalo nickel. (I don't think it's old enough, maybe one of his progenitors.)

While in Yellowstone we saw two bears, one wolf, countless buffalo, elk, ravens and some other small creatures. Morgan enlisted as a junior ranger. We got to see Old Faithful herself eventually blow up into the sky. Drove over Fishing Bridge. Raided the Yellowstone Store. Mailed some postcards. Looked down the gorge of the "Grand Canyon". And we were only there for a day.

It's a Bumpy Ride

From Mo's point of view.

We tried to bring plenty for Morgan to do so she wouldn't get bored.

Teagan was a total trooper. Most of the time she camped out on a bench and slept on her pillow.

"The Captain"

Apparently, Dave gets carsick if he sits in the back :P

Mt. Rushmore

We loved being able to spend a week with Dave's Dad and Teresa. We toured some country in the motor home with several historical, national, and educational stops like Martin's Cove, the Mammoth Pit, Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore. Did you know that Thomas Jefferson's face was originally on Washington's left side? There was a large crack found while drilling and the sculptor thought it was unstable. So they blew up his face and started again on the other side.

We made a little friend at Mt. Rushmore that we named Billy. He was almost domesticated. We were probably about ten to fifteen feet away and he didn't care at all. We saw him again at the end of the 30 minute Ranger Tour.

There was a hall of flags that had each of the 50 flags in our nation. I'm standing by the Utah flag, trust me, it's up there. Sandon is just hanging out.

This is what the mountain was supposed to look like but when the sculptor died his son took over and said, "this is great, we're done!" And that is why we only see the heads and not the rest of their bodies. And I thought I would get Sandon in here too. He was having a great time. I really think he enjoyed all of the fresh air on this trip. It turned out to be a hot day.

Finally, Some New Posts

It took me long enough to get these posts up. I've even had some of these pictures for weeks just waiting to be uploaded. Anyway, I took this little video of a happy Sandon this morning to prove that he does smile sometimes. These kind of videos remind me of the moving pictures in Harry Potter. I have one of baby Teagan in sepia where she even leaves the picture and comes back.

Prayer Dolls Are a Success!

I have to thank Catie for this fun and creative idea. The Yarn Prayer Dolls were a hit at my last activity days. I made this one for Teagan and she sleeps with it every night, not that she needs the reminder. Teagan is my living prayer doll. She reminds me every night to say my prayers and to help her with hers. She's getting really good. She is thankful for many things including: Nursery, nursery teacher Miss Sally, the motor home and our trip coming up with Grandma and Grandpa, her family, our food and our bodies, and for all of her toys.
