Sniff, Sniff...

So, we lost some of our favorite roomies this last weekend. We are probably the ones to blame because we asked them to have a place by the end of February, but we didn't expect them to find a place so fast. Here are some of the few things I will miss since they're gone:

-having breakfast or dinner together.

-sitting with them in sacrament and seeing them in primary

-the "oos" and "ahs" that the girls would give them as they walked in the door at nights.

-swinging golf clubs in the front yard

-trying new recipes for dinner

-Morley's lasagna

-Ginny and I playing seek and find games on the computer

-taking pictures for their gormet food blog

-going to the library together.

-walking together on Davis High's track

-Morley's spaghetti sauce

-Wal-Mart trips late at night.

-borrowing Gin's clothes

Things I won't miss (nor they, for that matter):

-cold showers in the morning

-driveway shuffles

Thanks for the memories Gin and Morley. Good luck with your cute new place. I hope we can still find time for eachother.

Are We Ready Yet?

On the 17th of January I had the privilage of hosting a baby shower for my baby sister. Faith graced us with her glowing presence and her growing belly. We are so excited for Aine to finally come to our world. I can't wait to hug her and squeeze her and love her forever. Oh! And I just wanted to thank everyone who made it to the party. We had a pretty good turn-out and Faith and Aine made a pretty good haul.

Morgan is growing up. Even her mannerisms and vocabulary have matured. Dave and I have enjoyed watching her learn new things and then share them with us. She tell us things like, "trees help us to breath by making air" or, "3 apples and 2 more apples make 5 apples" and, "P is for pig". Even though she has been able to do more kinds of fun things with her new age and maturity, sometimes it's still tough. She hasn't decided how she feels about being a sunbeam. It can be hard to leave behind a classroom full of toys, snacks, and fun. But we're so proud of all that she has already accomplished and look forward to the many more surprises she has up her sleeves.

We spent the final evening of the year with some family. My Aunt Janell and Uncle Mike came over with some of their kids to play games and to eat from the cornucopia of food on my kitchen counters. BJ brought out the Twister game and played it atleast 5 times. Among the winners were Jessica, Angela and Dave... surprise, surprise. I think Dave's long arms and legs helped even though he'll deny it. It was pretty funny. We all had some pretty good laughs that night and turned the TV on just in time to see the ball drop in Time Square, New York (delayed time, of course). And just as a little side note. I managed to get my visiting teaching done on the 30th so that I wouldn't have to disturb anyones midnight parties on New Years Eve. Win, win!

Remember...

Do you remember the anticipation of Christmas morning when you were a kid? Well, being a parent of small children brings back some memories for me. Around Christmas time, when I was a kid, there were almost always cookies and goodies in the kitchen. And we always had to wait for Dad to lead us into the living room to see what Santa brought us. This year the anticipation was a little different for me, as a parent, but still just as palpable. The look on my kids faces as they came into the living room Christmas morning are engraved in my mind. They made the claustrophobic feelings in the toy aisles and sore feet in the checkout stands all worth it.
