Christmas Tree Instructions

Step 1: Trace a circle onto a piece of paper and cut it out.

Step 2: Fold the circle in half

Step 3: Fold in half again...

...and again until it looks like this.

Step 4: Cut alternating lines into the triangle. This is the tricky part. If you can see from the picture, she is not cutting all the way to the edge. If you cut all the way to the edge, you cut off the bottom of your tree and you just have a smaller tree. I found the "Cut and Flip" method the easiest where you cut the line, turn it over, and cut the line, turn it over...

Step 5: Carefully unfold your triangle so that it looks like picture above.

Step 6: Stretch out your tree and enjoy.

We hang our trees from the ceiling using simple scotch tape at home. Dave hangs his trees at working using pins and sticking them into the false ceiling. These trees would be really fun if we had some colored paper, especially if the paper had a different color on each side.

Christmas Trees

This has been a magical year. Dave has had so much Christmas spirit. Monday night he taught the kids how to make the paper trees he learned how to do in elementary school. He was in shock that I didn't know how to make them with all of the other "crafty crap" I do.

Morgan thought it was awesome, scissors being her favorite crafty crap tool.

I just made cookies.

Teagan thought it was cool that we let her use the scissors too. I was afraid that we might have to make a trip to the ER to sew a finger back on. But she did pretty good after she got the hang of it. She didn't cut any trees, just paper shapes.

Sorry We Missed You, Catie

More pictures :)

;

We went out to Mom and Dad's so I could steal some of Mom's yarn for my activity day girls. While I was out there, I thought I would play with my camera and snap some photos. Their big front room windows give off some great natural light. Thanks for the yarn Mom!

Sandon's Walking!

Sandon decided that he had enough built up confidence to try a new skill today. Not only did he take his first steps this morning but he also has started mastering the skill of standing up by himself. I'm so proud of my little man! He has his own cheering section, Morgan and Teagan follow him around and give him heartfelt encouragement. Yea! Not I really need to put locks on all of the cupboards and drawers.

New Camera

Dave got me new camera for Christmas and let me open my present early. I have been trying to figure it out and I think it will be slow going because of all the cool features on this thing. Here are a few pictures of Sandon I took with my new Nikon

More Art (For Lack of Anything Else)

It has been a while since I posted something new. It's been so crazy at this house! So here is a little of what has been taking up some of my time, just a little art homework.
+/- space of a "plant" I have in my house.

+/- space on scratch paper

Another +/- space on scratch paper. Can you guess what this picture is?

Still life, charcoal on canson. My pumpkins look like they came out of a cartoon, ha ha :D

Act of Mercy

Thank you Mellisa for taking the time to do this for us! You're the best. Here is a link to her blog address where you can see some of the other cute family photos she's taken: http://mellisasmoments.blogspot.com
I call it an act of mercy because Sandon cried just about the whole night unless he was being held by Dave or myself. That makes it a little harder to do pictures.

Cheetoh Girl

Uh,... yeah. She had cheetohs for lunch... obviously.
