Room Update

Just wanted to give a little room update. Dave installed new outlets and plates plus a new light switch that glows in the dark. Then we tore up the old carpet and pad and and some of the old tackboard (not that fun). But we did order some new carpet and it should be professionally installed on the 5th. I'm so excited. After the carpet is in, we are going to start moving her stuff downstairs. Woohoo! Last night we put up her really cute wall lights, there are three, an orange seahorse, a blue seashell and a green ladybug. Everything will look so bright and cheerful when it's all put together. The next step for me, while I patiently wait for the carpet to get here, is paint the floor boards and trim. We have to get at least the floor boards in before the carpet is installed. It wasn't an easy task finding carpet that wouldn't clash with these sunny walls. Hee hee.

Knock, Knock. Who's There?

Sometimes, as a mom, I just have to get down to their level and enjoy the show. We have been building forts lately. We bring in the flashlights and set up the little portable DVD player so we can watch cartoons while we eat goldfish off the underside of a Frisbee. Doesn't that sound like a good time? It's fun to act like a kid again.

Birthday Celebration

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came to Teagan's birthday party. We hosted a BBQ under the shade of the maple tree in the backyard. It was a good year for Teag. She made quite a haul of it. Each toy has already earned a special place in her heart. I think we have jsut about used up the bubble solution that came with her Nemo bubble blower. Ariel has been dressed, undressed and diaper changed so many times that I'll be able to recrute some help from my girls for when the baby comes. And Teagan is so cute with the two baby dolls. She carries one in each arm around the house. I love to watch her pretend to feed them and then burp them and then put them down for a nap. I think we have watched the pony movie 6 times already and she looks so cute in that outfit Grams bought for her. I know she bought that white shirt to wear under it but I love how her little bellybutton pokes through when she just wears the jumper and pantie set. Well, I can't believe it has been two years already. At milestones like this, I can't help but think back on the day when we brought her home from the hospital with her thick dark hair and her chubby cheeks. The dark hair is long gone but she still has her chubby cheeks. Here's to the future.

28 Weeks

I've found that one of the worst things that you can do while you're pregnant, is to catch a cold. There is nothing out there that is "legal" to use but Robitussin, and really, does Robitussin even work for normal people who are not pregnant? Anyway, we're still excited for this little boy to come into the world and as recognition of the big event, I have chosen frogs for my new background on this blog. "Jr." weighs about 2 1/4 pounds and is almost 15 inches long. He can blink his eyes, which are now sporting eyelashes. I hope he has long, dark eyelashes like Morgan. Guys with long eyelashes are so dreamy, hee hee. He can hear sounds like people talking. So the more you talk around me, the more he may recognize your voice when he's actually here. His lungs are developed enough that if he were to come right now, he could live with the help of machines for the first few weeks or months of his life. I'm going to persuade him to wait the whole 40 weeks. ;)

Well this is the big appointment where I have to take the gestational diabetes test. Just the whole timing of everything eludes me. I have to fast 2 hours before drinking the unbearably, sugary, flavored water in 5 minutes. And then I have to make sure that I have my blood drawn exactly one hour after I finish the solution. Does that confuse anyone else? Atleast I will be ableto say that I'm done with that after my appointment today. Unless I test positive and then I will have to do this three hour test. Let's just say I've got my fingers crossed.

Happy Birthday

I know we're a few days early, but I just had to post this cute little cupcake thing. Miss Sally, Teagan's nursersy teacher, brought over a big balloon, birthday card and this adorable little cake for Teagan's birthday. Miss Sally is so thoughful that she even brought over a ballon for Morgan. Anyway, we know Teagan's birthday isn't until Saturday but we've started celebrating already. I hope this cake will keep a couple of days so Teag can eat on her actual birthday. Maybe, I'll just cave in and take pictures of her getting messy before the big day.

I Can Do It

I have always been intimidated to make bread. I imagined hours of mixing ingredients, kneading dough and then hoping the bread would actually rise enough to make a simple loaf. Thanks to the coaching of my wonderful sister-in-law, Cindy, I undertook the challange and succeeded, and it wasn't even that hard. I even grinded my own wheat with the grinder my father-in-law made with his wife back in the 70's. I think I will never buy bread again when it was this easy to do it myself. I feel so empowered. Woohoo! (Can you tell I'm excited?)

Another Goofy Teagan Picture

Teagan never runs out ways to be silly and goofy. This time she managed to wear her laundry hamper. I was folding their clothes in my room when she walked in laughing. I turned around to see what was so funny and started busting up myself. I'm glad I can take pictures, otherwise I would never remember these simple pleasures.

Camping with Grandma and Grandpa

This last weekend we had the great opportunity of spending some time with Grandma and Grandpa Woodland in their motorhome. We camped out at the base of the Jordanelle Damn, literally, we were at the bottom of the damn. When we weren't sleeping at night (hah, like we got any sleep) we were touring Wasatch County. We went to Kamas, Francis, Oakley, Heber and Midway, drove up into the Uintas, and down to Bridal Veil Falls. Everything was still beautiful and green. Unfortunately, it was still hot despite the rise in elevation. Fortunately, we stayed in an air conditioned motorhome. It was a nice relaxing vacation.
