Arteriovenous Malformation is a spider web-like mass of very small veins and arteries. Because these veins and arteries are smaller than usual, there is a lot of pressure pumped through them and can result in hemorrhaging. We found out Sandon has what is simply abbreviated as AVM. Some of the treatments consist of a type of chemotherapy, or a radio-active solution pumped into the veins to kill them, or surgery to try and remove them

(which is rarely very effective because it is hard to find and remove all of the veins, and AVM can grow back). Because Sandon is so small, the doctors want to wait until he's at least 10 kg (I don't know what that converts to in pounds) before treatment. More than likely they will try the solution to try and burn the veins out or off or whatever. I'm still trying to dig up some more info so I can understand what AVM is exactly. There is one thing I do know for sure. We are lucky that the AVM is not located near or around his nervous system or brain which could result in a deadly outcome. As you can imagine, I'm a little nervous about how this is all going to work out, so please pray for our peace of mind. And as always, I will keep you updated as new developments occur.
