I'm Guilty

Is there anyone else out there that feels the same way I do? Guilty? Amid the hussel and bussel of the holiday season, I forgot about visiting teaching. Aghh! And to make it all worse, the message is on charity. Could it be rubbed in any harder? I guess I still have till midnight, New Years Eve. I could visit my ladies bringing a bottle of sparkling cider and my noise makers. Speaking of New Years Eve, what are your plans? Anyone want to go visiting teaching with me..., anyone...? No, I didn't think so. Ok.

Building A Home

Morgan and I spent some quality time together on Sunday afternoon making a gingerbread house. I would like to say that I made the house from a treasured family heirloom recipe passed down from mother to daughter, generation after generation, but that would be a complete fabrication and I would have to turn in my temple recommend. So the truth of it is, we bought a kit from Costco, hee hee. The kit came with over a pound of candy as you can see from the finished product. Morgan and I had a lot of fun acting like kids together. I hope this will be another memory she'll remember when she gets to be a mom herself.

Let it Snow!

This morning we woke up to a world of white. There was at least 4-5 inches of snow on the ground and it was still snowing. While Dave and Gin were busy out side clearing our driveway and sidewalk Morgan found some friends and had a blast playing in the powder. The snowflakes were puny to start out with but improved in size within minutes. Our little girlfriend next door came over to play with Mo. They looked so cute together, one behind the other, rolling snow to make a snow man.

Unfortunately, it wasn't the packing kind of snow, it was too light and fluffy. So the girls decided to try their luck on the slide in the back yard. They managed to push all of the snow that was resting on top, to the bottom of the slide. Then they would slide down the slide and land on their bottoms into a great heap of wet, cold, snow. She hasn't had that much fun outside since we raked leaves. I know she's praying for more opportunities to jump into snow this season.

Deck the Halls

Today we had our annual Durfee Christmas Party. It's the first of the season with others to come. We had it at Mom and Dad's church in Stansbury. They worked hard to kave it looking nice. Everyone brought a soup and a dessert. I decided to make chili and Gin and Morley brought their spicy Mexican Chicken Stew. Uncle Tyler really liked that one. There was the usual basketball game in the gym and the women chit-chatting in the kitchen. It was fun to see everybody and catch up. Guarenteed laughs and good times. Thanks Mom and Dad for coordinating everything. I know Morgan had a great time running around playing with her cousins. She was out before we got out of the church parking lot.

A Wrinkle in Time

OK, so this is the book I chose for book club reading. A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle. It's a Newbery Medal winner published over 40 years ago. The author died last September at the age of 88 but her birthday would have been on November 29th. That is one of the reasons why I decided to choose this book, in memory of this mother and grandmother. I've never read it before but I am really excited to. I think it's technically a young adult book so it should be an easy read for some of us. I hope you will join me in reading this book. Dave Caved In

The girls and I were so excited when Dave brought home a new Christmas tree and set it up. Morgan helped me put on the ornaments while Teagan stood by pointing and commenting on where we were placing them. This tree has a lot of lights on it and it easily illuminates the living room. So after we finished assembling the tree I played Christmas music on the piano while Morgan danced in the tree's glow. Dave usually makes us wait to put the tree up the first Sunday in December but I guess Morgan pulled the "puppy-eyes", and those are hard to resist. Yea! The tree is up!
